IN THE FRAME

The Quantum Consortium is acutely aware of the contribution its procurement role makes to local economies through support for the local construction industry.

With that in mind, the members have developed a framework of guidance for contractors and consultants.

The primary objective is to marry high quality service delivery with economies of scale in delivering a £100 million development programme over the next four years.

Following a rigorous tendering process, a list of approved suppliers has been agreed, who will be eligible to bid for work at upcoming housing developments across the east midlands.

All of the successful applicants had to show a commitment to working in partnership, demonstrate effective management of performance and quality and most importantly, understand the diverse needs of Quantum’s customers.

The contractors will be building homes for social housing tenants as well as shared ownership properties through New Build HomeBuy where the purchaser buys a share of the property and then pays less than market rent on the remaining share.

Paul Casey, Development Director at Derwent Living who led on the initiative, said: “Quantum is about more than providing affordable homes: we want to have a positive impact on the local economies where we operate, creating employment opportunities and job security.

“In these difficult economic times, we are pleased to be able to provide this work which will provide affordable housing across the east midlands for communities and future generations to come.”
