3 OCTOBER 2009
TO THE RESCUE

Quantum Consortium, through EMH Group, is helping deliver a new Government initiative offering a lifeline to families facing the loss of their homes.

The group is a key player in the national Mortgage Rescue Scheme (MRS), a £200 million initiative aiming to help 6,000 households facing home repossession over the next two years.

Working with local authorities across Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to deliver the scheme, East Midlands Housing Group and its Quantum partners are helping vulnerable families and individuals to stay in their own homes.

The MRS, led by a partnership of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), and Communities and Local Government (CLG) was launched in January as one of a range of Government measures to help homeowners in difficulty with mortgage payments resulting from the current financial downturn.

To be eligible for MRS assistance, applicants need to contact their lender and their local authority to explore all the options possible before being referred to the housing association for MRS.

Jim Patman, Group Development Director at EMH said: “The current economic climate is creating challenges for everyone. Repossession and the threat of homelessness can have a massive negative long-term impact on families. We are committed to playing our part in this government initiative to help existing owner occupiers remain in their homes and avoid any disruption to their lives.”
