RISING TO THE CHALLENGE
The recession may have been the toughest in a generation, but midlands-based Quantum Consortium is playing its part in ensuring affordable housing supply in the region continues.
While many hard hit house builders in the private sector have been forced to cut back sharply on their investment, Quantum has bucked the trend by increasing its programme over the last 12 months.
Thanks to support from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and local authority partners, the consortium has 1,265 new homes either completed or on site.
And while supply has been squeezed elsewhere, with house-building numbers at their lowest in decades, demand continues to rise: the east midlands is the fastest growing region in England.
Jim Patman, Development Director of EMH, Quantum's lead investment partner said:
“For the last year or more, market conditions have brought many sites to a standstill. But Quantum has continued to maintain the momentum by proactively seeking out new development opportunities, securing new schemes and making the most of Kickstart and other HCA funding.
“As a result, we've been able to beat our own development targets by providing homes of the right type, in the right place, which meet local priorities, while preserving all the associated benefits in terms of jobs, training, and support for partner businesses and suppliers.”
