BUNGALOWS FOR BOLSOVER

Quantum member Derwent Living has embarked on the £3.8m redevelopment of 22 Tarran Bungalows on Oxcroft Lane, in Bolsover, Derbyshire.

A joint project with Bolsover District Council and Kier Partnership Homes, the demolition of the defective bungalows will make way for 13 new bungalows for returning tenants, two for existing owners and 20 additional houses for rent to local families.

The new homes will be owned by Derwent Living, which has received £2.3m of National Affordable Housing funding from the Homes and Communities Agency to make the scheme possible.

All of the new homes have been designed to be sustainable and will feature photovoltaic panels on the roofs. They will achieve level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and are also being delivered to the Lifetime Homes standard.

Derwent Living development director, Paul Casey, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring these much-needed affordable homes to the community of Bolsover. The progress we’ve made to enable a start on site is the result of strong partnership working and reflects our long-standing relationship with Bolsover District Council.”

Kier Partnership Homes’ managing director, Chris King, commented: “We are ready and looking forward to delivering a quality scheme for the tenants and future residents of Oxcroft. We are mindful of how long they have waited for this project to get under way and we intend to pull out all the stops to see that their new homes are delivered on time.”

Bolsover District Council cabinet member for housing, Cllr Keith Bowman, added: “The start of construction marks a new chapter for the tenants who have waited patiently for their new homes and who have been prepared to move off site temporarily to allow the works to get under way and be completed in the shortest time possible. These new homes will be much more energy efficient, modern and provide a better standard of living for our residents.”

The first homes are expected to be ready for occupation by June.
